OMA Mobile Healthcare Workshop

September 20, 2012
Bangkok, Thailand, Shangri-La Hotel

The Open Mobile Alliance will host a Mobile Healthcare Workshop at the OMA Technical Plenary in September in Bangkok, Thailand to examine the intersection of smartphones and healthcare information.

Experts characterize the current market as being in the earliest phase of providing health information to mobile devices. If the vision is realized, this will represent a true breakthrough for collecting and managing healthcare information. The relationship between mobile devices and the healthcare industry is a dynamic one in which communications platforms are advancing both consumers’ and providers’ engagement with healthcare information. The introduction of health applications and external attachments on smartphones can support good health-related decisions when used for fitness tracking, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring and more. This workshop seeks to examine where mobile standards should play a role in this quickly evolving market.
